“So that you too may have fellowship with us…” (1 John 1:3)
Fellowship with us.
Pilgrim Church is a gathering of Christians of all ages and various backgrounds. We are a family with the privilege and responsibility to love and care for each other. We warmly welcome people who are not from Christian backgrounds. Visitors frequently tell us how very welcome they feel at Pilgrim Church. So come visit! Here are some of the things you will find…
Tech Team
The Pilgrim Church Tech Team are the roadies of the church, excited to both be “behind the curtain” and involved in all things technology related. From running the sound board and Facebook livestream to pulling wires and supercharging the WiFi the tech team does it all.
Library Team
Have you had the opportunity to browse through the church library recently? We have a good variety of books on many topics: Christian living, biography, missions and evangelism, theology, parenting, children's books, and more. There is also a selection of DVDs. Instructions for checkout are located on top of the small wooden shelf. Please be sure to include the date that you check the book out. We have no due date but do expect books to be returned in a timely fashion. Books should be placed in the return bin near the door, not on the shelf. Suggestions for new books are always welcome and can be relayed to the librarian through the church office (churchoffice.pilgrimopc@gmail.com) at any time. Read on!
Olders Group
Olders is a men's group that meets every other Thursday from 11:30 to 1:00 (except in the summer). We each bring a bag lunch and fellowship while we have our meal. Then, from noon to 1:00, we have a study and discussion, ending with prayer. Over the years we have chosen many subjects for discussion, such as the Psalms, the various views of eschatology (premillenial, amillenial, etc.), and this past year, the Westminster Confession. Because of our meeting time, most of the men are retired or semi-retired (hence our name), but younger men whose schedule permits are also welcome. For more information, contact Rollin Stearns or elder Jay Rankin.
Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry at Pilgrim Church desires to see women of all ages grow in their love and devotion for the Lord. To that end, we provide activities for edification, spiritual growth, encouragement, and building up of relationships among the women. Some of the opportunities provided are, book discussions, service projects, fellowship breakfasts, garden lunches, speakers, and retreats. We also oversee bridal and baby showers.
Evangelism Team
This team is here to help train and equip all believers at Pilgrim with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration to openly and unashamedly share the Good News. Throughout the year we hold classes and workshops focusing on the practical side of how to make sharing the Gospel a natural and comfortable part of our everyday life.
Music Ministry
In response to God’s great grace to his people, he calls us to sing! Singing together is an integral part of our worship. It is a powerful means for truth to be transferred from our heads to our hearts, for our affections to be transformed, and to encourage one another, as in Eph. 5:19, addressing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Care is taken to select music appropriate for each part of the worship service.
Our singing includes the Psalms and other parts of Scripture as well as biblically faithful hymns composed from the time of the early church, throughout the centuries, and to the present. Because of the importance of congregational participation, song leaders or various choirs assist with new or difficult music; instrumental accompaniment is carefully selected with the goal of supporting not replacing congregational singing.
Singing at home in family worship is encouraged as a means of teaching the works of the Lord to the next generation (Ps. 78:1-4) and as a way to equip even the youngest children to participate in corporate worship.
Isaiah 42:10a “Sing to the LORD a new song, His praise from the end of the earth!”
Communications Team
Pilgrim Church wants our members to well-informed about life at Pilgrim without being over-whelmed! In this age of instant communications, this is also easier said than done. From the website, the Facebook page, Pilgrim Press, the bulletin and regular church-wide emails, the Comm Team works to provide the information we need in a timely and usable manner.
